Some
of the taller forsythias need ample room to grow out naturally
and they will take on a graceful flowing hedge appearance.
They make an excellent informal shrub border, and taller varieties
can be espaliered or trained into shapes against a wall. They
tolerate average soils conditions and city life well.
To achieve beautiful forsythia hedge select a site that has
full sun or light shade. Space the selected cultivar plants
4 to 6 feet apart. The forsythia hedge is deciduous and they
drop their leaves in the fall and are effective screens mainly
during the growing season.
